Jagjot Rakkar
Hi all, I’m Jag! I currently work in the Non-profit sector helping provide support for people with Intellectual disabilities. Growing up as a second-generation immigrant in the Northside of Edmonton, I understood the barriers faced by those from similar backgrounds and was motivated to make a change. Using the experiences I've acquired in the non-profit sphere, alongside completing my Bachelors degree at the U of A, I hope to address the challenges to obtaining higher education faced by marginalized communities by providing mentorship and workshops for personal development. My goal is to help create more equitable communities in Edmonton through providing insight to the different opportunities obtainable to marginalized youth. A fun fact about me is that I enjoy folk dancing (Bhangra) and have performed at stages across the country, and during undergrad, have taken up long-distance running!
